Though I haven't been able to spend much time there, Seattle has always held a special place for me since some close family live there. In March of 2015 I was able to take a long weekend to visit them; it was the first time I had been back since I was probably 11 or 12 years old.

Of course, the Pacific Northwest (particularly Seattle) is known for its rain and gloomy overcast days, but we were fortunate enough to get some truly gorgeous spring weather. We took advantage of that and spent most of our time outside, enjoying beautiful sunsets over Lake Washington, a hike through Snowqualmie Falls, and of course the famous Pike Place Market. But one of my favorite parts of the trip was actually spend underground, exploring the tunnels underneath the city on a guided tour. It was a fascinating and funny way to spend the afternoon, learning about the history of the city.
